So it's my first week of school and I'm getting used to a lifestyle that's a little bit like high-school--I get up early (7:15am) every morning, have breakfast, go to school, then come back for dinner. However, in high school I never had to squeeze into crowded trains and navigate a bustling subway network. This is the train station near my home, on the Hankyu train line.
After taking the train to downtown Kyoto (Shijo-Karasuma station), I switch to the subway, go north to Imadegawa Rd. (where Doshisha University is), and walk about a block to school.
Today I got my cell phone prepaid card, so I can finally start texting people. Calling is super expensive--about 10 cents per 6 seconds!
At school, all the students taking my Introductory Electronics class got a nifty Nokia N800 Internet Tablet to watch our video lectures on. It also conveniently comes with internet and a webcam, so once I can get it onto Doshisha's wireless network (which has been difficult), I'll be able to webchat with you all!
Today after my classes were over I went with a group of SCTI students to Tera-machi again. We went to a Daiso store (where they have a lot of cool stuff for just 1 dollar), and to an arcade, where we played Taiko Drum Master!
I was considerably better than last time I played it, which was after freshman year doing taiko, so I guess that's a good sign!
Alright I have to do a bunch of reading for my Modernizing Women in Japan class.
